Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo (about 2,329 m) breathes thin smoke in the middle of the Tengger caldera, ringed by a sea of sand and flanked by the ribbed slopes of Mount Batok. In the distance, Semeru — the highest peak on Java at 3,676 m — now and then sends up a puff of ash. Pura Luhur Poten, a sacred temple of the Tengger people, stands on the sand sea, so please visit with respect.
