Giri Hill

On this hill Sunan Giri founded Giri Kedaton on 9 March 1487 — the date now celebrated as Gresik’s anniversary — and here he was laid to rest. Every 25th night of Ramadan, people keep Malam Selawe with prayer, pilgrimage, and a night market at the foot of the hill. Bit walks slowly and quietly here.
